Channel K blends a unique original rock sound from Houston, TX. With catchy female melodic leads, groovy bass lines, tasteful yet driven creative guitars and keys, and groovey beats, Channel K expresses a new rock sound you haven’t heard before.

Twist Online : Hi Ken, thanks for joining us. Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Ken Sarmiento : Hey, thanks for having me. Appreciate the time. My name is Ken Sarmiento from Houston,TX.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to start Channel K band?
Ken Sarmiento : I had been in the longtime band, Phuz for many years. I then produced an artist named, Julin. After those 2 projects, I created Channel K.

Twist Online : Tell us about Channel K’s Band members and their roles in the band?
Ken Sarmiento : Cyn Leal sings lead. She also is an actress. Raul Sarmiento, also my cousin, plays bass and does vocal harmonies w/a brutal side kick on stage. He’s a kayak master too. Rick plays guitars and a million other guitar pedals. He’s got some pretty sweet dance moves on stage while playing his guitar. Johnny beats on the drums. He brings all the “chords” in practice (inside joke) and has some championship trophies fishing. I jam with my guitars and synthesizer together on stage. I love racing fast rc cars and vintage video games. I also produced both Channel K’s ‘Human Beings’ and ‘Super Queen’ albums.

Twist Online : Tell us about your new EP titled ‘Super Queen’.
Ken Sarmiento : Yes! We have a new Super Queen album EP released a few weeks ago. You can download your own copy right now on Itunes, AmazonMusic, Google Play Music and like 13+ other retailers. Generally speaking, it’s about relationships and emotions. Overcoming those conflicts in life. Listeners are welcome to psychoanalyze the content (laughs). It does have some groovy beats, killer bass, catchy melodies and harmonies, dynamic synthesizers, over driven guitars, and some guitar solos. I’m happy with the final product.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Ken Sarmiento : Our album release party in Houston was amazing. They loved the new songs on the album. We sold CD’s and people are downloading/streaming. We recently had a review on the album from a British magazine, and it was really positive. The writer liked how we mixed some old school with some modern sounds of today. You can check it out on our official site.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Ken Sarmiento : That’s a good question Twist Online. There’s always that performing side of me that loves the stage. But there’s also that production side that brings on a different creativity that I love in the studio. They each have their own strengths. But it’s the performance side of music I love most.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a band?
Ken Sarmiento : The album and our release party was a big goal for us we had achieved. We’re going to release some videos soon. I’d like to play more outside of our city like we did this past 2017 SXSW festival.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Ken Sarmiento : Now that’s impossible to answer (laughs). Rock, Jazz, Blues, Disco, Funk, Dance, Pop, Latin, Classical…I love so many that there isn’t one I can pick.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project after this EP?
Ken Sarmiento :I’m already planning a full length Channel K album. I might go back into music production with other artists. It all depends. I kinda like to roll with things.
